How does Public Note work?
Public Note works with two formats: a Science note and a Public note. Read the guidelines below to make a choice on which format fits your paper best.

A science note is a peer-reviewed article like in any academic journal, where the main focus lies on academic rigour and developing a concise and well-constructed argument. We safeguard the quality of articles through working with a reviewer pool consisting of PhD students and professors from participating institutions.

- Learn to write academically through a professional (double blind) review procedure.
- An opportunity to develop language, writing, research and critical thinking skills.

- Maximum 3500 words.
- Writing according to Science guidelines.
- Follow all guidelines on Science notes.

A Public note is a more creative and short format in which you can showcase your academic research and findings. Originality and creativity are key factors and we encourage students to think outside of the traditional formats for academic publishing. A Public note can therefore be an opinionated essay, a short story, a video, factsheet, poem, commentary or even a poster!

- Sharing your knowledge in an accessible way with respondents, practitioners, scholars and other interested readers.
- Space to write in a way that fits you and to experiment with (non-textual) formats.
- You are free to write about a political or societal cause that you are passionate about in a much more creative and engaging way.
Requirements:
- Maximum 1000 words
- Bring across your academic thinking in a creative way
- Non-traditional writing styles and formats, as listed above.
- Follow all guidelines on public notes
